Young voters swamp polls at 5 pm

September 5, 2006

Our readers – under 40 years old – hit the polls heavy after work. Veteran poll watchers report more young voters than past elections.

Will it be enough to pass the park and elect Grover Robinson? We’ll know in a couple hours.

Sweet Jesus I hope it’ll be enough to get the Park passed. I’m fairly positive that it’s going to be OK, but if for some reason it’s not, I’m going to spend an amazing amount of energy and devote every second of my free time to holding SOC to thier offer of a “Better” park.
Of course, judging by many of the front yards which display the “Vote No” signs, they can’t even build a decent flower-bed, much less a “Better” park.

I think this says a lot about Pensacola’s young people wanting to get involved and have a say in how this city grows. We can’t depend on our elders to make these decisions forever, and we’ve stepped up and played a vital, pivotal role in shaping the future of this community.

Thank You SOC, for bringing this fight to the ring, to let it be heard, through due electoral process, that the people of Pensacola are ready for progress, despite what Martry & The Apocalyptic Crue professed to be otherwise.

Thank you Quint, for sharing your visions and dreams with this wonderful community, and thank you for putting up with the gauntlet you had to run to see this dream become reality. You must be part duck with as much water you’ve had to shed off your back.

Thank you CMPA, for putting in the tough fight and bringing the truths about this project to the people so that a fair and honest election could be held.

Tomorrow is a bright new day for this community, and I look forward to being a part of it for years to come.

Take me out to the baaaaalllll gammme….
