Stidham will lose

September 1, 2006

lensPrediction: Escambia Co. School Board member Cary Stidhim is on her way out of office. Her challenger Gerald Boone has out raised her $14,428 to $4,235.. Worse, she is being endorsed by the teachers’ union and that is the kiss of death in school board races. Her reports shows checks from Union president Gail Husbands, executive director Tom Wazlavek, activists Bill Vincent and Debbie James.

The last of the micro-managers will be ousted on Sept. 5th.

First, Finkelstein and DeWitt. Now Cary.

  1. Howard Says:

What is the old saying about politics making strange bedfellows? Stidham touts herself as a staunch conservative. Meanwhile, the teachers union supports the indefensible and incompetent in their ranks. Nationally, the NEA supports an ultraliberal agenda, including abortion. Stidham must be desperate to cast her lot with such a motley crew. I agree. She cannot survive.

  2. Boone Fan Says:

Cary may survive. Too bad she was not up for election when Finklestine and Dewitt were in 2004. She surely would have been put out then. Things have been kind of quiet and there is not the uproar there was a couple of years ago. It would help also if she had to run in a year that Jim Paul was up for reelection.

  3. An Observer Says:

Stidham is toast. There is still a lot of resentment out there for her past actions, which the voters are being reminded.

  4. antiunion Says:

This is a classic case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend routine. Both the union and Stidham will do anything to stand in the way of the superintendent getting his job done. If they are prepared to stand together, they need to be ready to fall together.

  5. District 1 Parent Says:

    Rick:

Your comments are insightful regarding the union. Do you know who received the endorsement of Husbands and the EEA in the District 1 race? Just wondering who the most liberal candidate was in that one???????

    District 1 Parent

  6. An Observer Says:

EEA did not endorse any candidate in District 1. Not sure about Dist. 3.
