PNJ scares up sells

August 28, 2006

sunday path

Several readers emailed me yesterday upset about this map that appeared on the front page of the Sunday edition of the Pensacola News Journal. The path of the hurriance was not the one posted on the National Hurricane Center website according to the emailers. They accused the daily paper of sensationalizing Tropical Storm Ernesto to boost Sunday sales.

They wouldn’t do that. Would they?

Shouldn’t that be “scares up sales?”

Not that I want to ever defend the PNJ, but here is the link to the NHC archives of their graphics posted as of each advisory.

The 11pm advisory would have been the last one before they went to press for sunday morning. Obviously their cone has changed quite a bit since then.
