Low Income Housing …one week later
August 15, 2006
Many of the pastors for the predominately African American churches in Pensacola are upset about how the Area Housing Commission is handling the evictions of 35 families in Morris Court (see IN article – Left Behind Part 2: Housing). They are banding together to ask chairman Marie Young to call a special board meeting to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, AHC staffers are increasing pressure on the 35 families to accept whatever housing they offer them. It’s rumored that their strategy is to get as many families out of the complex so that the pastors won’t be defending many families at the special board meeting.
