FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pensacola Young Professionals Host Political Forum

The Pensacola Young Professionals (PYP) is hosting an open political forum July 24 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pensacola Junior College’s Haglar Legislative Auditorium.

The forum, PYP’s first official event as a collective organization, is designed to inform young professionals and guests about candidates’ platforms prior to elections in the fall.  Candidates running for city council, city mayor, county commission, state representative and state senator have been invited to partake in the event.

“We feel that this political forum will help to educate younger citizens within our community about the issues affecting our area and the political candidates that are willing to serve those needs,” said Jason Crawford, PYP economic development committee chair.  “We hope to host an event that gives the candidates an open venue to express their honest opinions about the issues affecting the position of office they are running for.  By educating the young professionals and other citizens we hope to empower them to make an educated decision when they vote in the upcoming elections.”

Each candidate will have two minutes to introduce themselves and their platform.  A moderator will be present to ask questions that all candidates will have an opportunity to address.

The forum is open to the public.  For more information contact Jason Crawford at jcrawford@osullivancreel.com.
