Martini Night Conversation

June 22, 2006

MartiniConversations & Discussions over Coronas @ Global Grill:

From a long-time Republican: "Who am I going to vote for Governor? Our choices are an admitted womanizer and pot user or a closet gay."

– "I'm quiting the best paying job I've ever had and moving to Orlando. Why? Because this town is too backward. It's crazy we're debating the Community Maritime Park."

– "You guys blew it on the United flight story when your writer claimed the plane was shot down by the Air Force. If the Air Force did, there would have been bodies and debris all over three states."

– "Dem. Gov. candidate Rod Smith is planning a big visit in July – there'll be a press release soon."

– "I've heard Tom Banjanin has been seen driving in a pick-up truck with his wife and two men. They are picking up Grover Robinson yard signs."

– "Why aren't more people upset about the deaths in the Escambia County Jail?"

All the hostesses of the Fish House were dining – so don't know who Jim Shirley and Collier had running the show. Crowd started slow but was up to 30 at the bar by 7:30. Overall, not a bad night for news tips.

Well, this at least answers the question, what is not newsworthy.

Over the years, I’ve found that what someone considers news is very subjective. It’s the throwaway comments that usually touch a nerve.

Um. Yeah. Just go back to kissing up to the CRA.

  5. routzen Says:

…another intelligent debate degrades to name-calling.

  6. Anonymous Says:

No one called anyone a “name”.

Collier & Jim Shirley creepy old men? Surely you’re kidding? They’re great guys in a town with a serious shortage.
On the governor race, I wonder what our local religious nuts would think if they knew their leading candidate, Christ, was gay? I don’t have a problem with it, many of my friends are gay, but I do have a problem with a gay man who hides it and carries the conservative banner that advocates discriminating against gays.
